Dreaming April 29, 2009

Last night, Reagan, who’s been sick with high fever, crawled on my lap to watch tv with me.  I knew she was going to fall asleep but there was no stopping it so I let her lay there.  After about 10 minutes, I see her eyes are closed so I start to pick her up to move her, mainly because I have to go to the bathroom.  As I start to raise her she says “I’m not ready, I’m not ready!  I haven’t made a dream yet!!”    I laughed out loud at this.  Really!  It was so cute.  Then, as I put her back down on my lap, she said “It will be about 10 minutes.”  As though she has any real concept of time right now.    I just got so tickled I’m trying not to pee my pants…. knowing I have to wait 10 minutes for her dream to get made!!!  Thankfully, she was snoring about 5 minutes later so I could move her and seek relief!!

Where to start??

My dad (Jill’s dad) came to visit Friday 4/17 night and Saturday 4/18 night.  Reagan didn’t see him that night as she’d fallen asleep before he got there.  I put Reagan in our bed and Randy got her bed.  In the morning, Reagan freaked because her door was closed and she needed Quakers.  She didn’t realize Papa Randy was here!!

Saturday (4/18) was too much fun!  Chris took the kids to the Y.  Him, to work out and them, for their swimming lessons.  Randy and I listened to music and searched for more.  But before we knew it… the kids were back and we needed to pry ourselves away from the computer.

My bestest friend Von came over with her girls (Emma, 8, and Anna – pronounced AH-nuh – 4).  Chris grilled burgers and dogs and we ate outside under our patio umbrella.  It was wonderful!  The kids jumped on the trampoline… ran around the house, had swinging contests, played a little baseball (with a kickball and bat).  Von even jumped on the trampoline and titled herself “The Queen of the Trampoline”!!  After the jumps and tricks she did, I have to agree!

Randy and Chris got my bike up and going by replacing both innertubes and getting it all aired and oiled.  Then, they set out for a short bike ride to Papa Bill’s and Grandma Deb’s.  Reagan was in the child seat on the back of my bike with Randy driving it.  She was so excited but seemed very unsteady once straped into it.  This girl, you must realize, is not afraid of anything.  She’ll stand on the porch swing, climb out of a moving shopping cart, jump off the back of Chris’ pick up truck, etc.  But… on the back of the bike…. she was crying “I want down, I want down.  I’m scared”.  Once Randy started riding she calmed down, but still didn’t like it too much.  We couldn’t help but laugh a bit since this is completely out of character for her.

When the returned from that trip, Reagan stayed home and the boys (Chris, Randy and Zac) took off for a guys trip to wherever the road would lead.

Randy, being the amazing father & grandfather he is, had offered to watch Zac and Reagan so me and Chris could go out to the movies.  Then, after spending time with Emma, Anna and Von, offered to watch the girls so Von could go with us.  (side note – Von’s husband works 40 hours in 3 days – Fri, Sat, Sun.  So he was home sleeping).  I know of no other grandparent(s) who’d offer to watch OTHER people’s kids along with his own grandkids.  Especially when he gets so little precious time with his own.   So the opportunity did not pass us by.  We took advantage and I had a date with my husband and bestest friend.  We saw “Mall Cop”.  ‘Cuz Chris and Von wanted to.  Not my first choice.  But… sometimes you must give, right??

Sunday morning I took Randy to his truck and said goodbye until next time.  We loved our visit and hope for many more when he can spend the night.

Later that Sunday, we went over to Von and Joe’s.  We had dinner (tacos…. YUM!) and then the adults played adult games (“What were you thinking??”) while the kids played.  We always have so much fun at their house.  We can never wait for the next opportunity to get together.  We laugh so much when we’re around them.

This past week has brought Zac a second week of GOOD days at school.  VERY proud of that!!  Today (Fri 4/24) was the warmest day of the year so far… 80.  this weekend is supposed to be nice as well.  We have so much planned for the outdoors I can’t wait for tomorrow to begin!!
